About Nicole is Here

Nicole Is Here is a space for women who are done shrinking themselves. A place for honest conversations about women, culture, politics, power, and pleasure.

Rooted in intersectional feminism, Black liberation, anti-racism, and cultural commentary, the blog explores the realities of womanhood and femininity in contemporary society through storytelling, cultural critique, and personal perspective.

Launched in 2020, the blog examines the intersections of race and gender in America, challenges limiting narratives about women of color, and unapologetically celebrates the beauty, power, complexity, and sensuality of Black femmes.

Whether the subject is current events, pop culture, relationships, race, feminism, pleasure, travel, or the everyday experience of being a woman in the world, Nicole Is Here cultivates conversations that challenge what we've been taught to accept as normal.

Meet Nicole

Nicole B. is a native Houstonian, writer, and communications professional with a background in journalism and political science from the University of Houston. Her professional work centers on storytelling, strategic marketing and communications, and translating complex ideas into stories that connect with people.

Nicole Is Here is where she gets to explore the things that don't always fit neatly into a professional bio. She's a cat mom, news junkie, live music addict, pop culture enthusiast, and lifelong observer of the world around her. She's passionate about social justice, women's autonomy, Black culture, politics, and conversations that challenge what we've been taught to accept as normal.

When she's not writing, Nicole can usually be found at a concert (BeyHive and Evanescence forever), cheering on her hometown teams (Go ’Stros), keeping up with current events, traveling somewhere new, or spending time with her longtime cat son, Halo.
